Should You Plan Your Disney Trip Yourself… or Use a Travel Advisor?
I’m going to tell you something you might not expect from a travel advisor…
Not everyone needs one.
Seriously.
Some people absolutely love researching resorts, comparing dining options, watching hours of YouTube videos, and building color-coded spreadsheets. If that’s you, you’ll probably have a blast planning your own trip.
But a lot of families don’t choose DIY because they want to—they do it because they don’t realize what a travel advisor actually does… or that it doesn’t cost them anything extra.
So let’s talk about it.
If You DIY Your Disney Trip…
There’s nothing wrong with planning it yourself. Plenty of people do, and they have amazing vacations.
Just know that you’re signing up to be the planner, researcher, problem solver, and customer service representative for your trip.
That usually means:
- Keeping track of when everything opens (dining reservations, Lightning Lane selections, special events… the list goes on).
- Comparing resorts, ticket options, and transportation while getting 15 different opinions from 15 different blogs.
- Learning Disney’s constantly changing rules and systems.
- Building an itinerary that actually makes sense for your family.
- Handling anything that goes wrong before or during your trip.
None of that is impossible.
It just takes time. And if you make a mistake, it can mean extra stress, extra money, or missing out on something you were really looking forward to.
So… What Does a Travel Advisor Actually Do?
This is the part that surprises people the most.
Working with me doesn’t cost you anything extra.
Disney pays me a commission after your trip, so my planning services are included in the price you’d already be paying.
That means instead of spending hours trying to figure everything out yourself…
I do it with you (or for you).
That includes things like:
✨ Keeping track of every important booking date so you don’t have to.
✨ Helping you choose the right resort instead of the one that just looks pretty online.
✨ Creating a plan that actually fits your family—not a generic itinerary you found on Pinterest.
✨ Being your go-to person if something changes or goes sideways before or during your vacation.
✨ Sharing tips and strategies that I’ve learned through my own trips, client experiences, and staying up to date on Disney changes.
My goal isn’t just to book your vacation.
It’s to make planning feel easy.
So… Which Option Is Right for You?
Honestly?
It depends.
If planning Disney sounds fun to you, go for it! You might genuinely enjoy every minute of it.
But if reading Facebook groups, comparing 20 hotel options, figuring out Lightning Lanes, and keeping track of booking windows sounds exhausting…
I’d love to help.
Already Booked Your Trip?
Here’s something a lot of people don’t know…
If you booked directly with Disney, you may still be able to transfer your reservation to me if:
- It was booked within the last 30 days.
- It hasn’t been paid in full.
- It was booked directly through Disney.
If you started planning and are thinking, “What did I get myself into?” don’t worry—you might not have to finish it alone.
Fill out my travel form, and I’ll let you know if your reservation can be transferred. If it can, I’ll take it from there.
My Take
I genuinely love planning Disney trips. I could spend hours researching resorts, comparing room types, and figuring out the best strategy for a park day.
Most people… can’t. 😂
And that’s okay.
If you’d rather spend your time getting excited for your vacation instead of trying to become a Disney planning expert overnight, that’s exactly what I’m here for.
And the best part? It doesn’t cost you anything extra.
