Disney World Memory Maker: Is It Worth It?

Disney World Memory Maker value guide

Should you add Memory Maker to your Disney World vacation?

Memory Maker is one of those extras I don’t automatically recommend to every family. But if you value professional family photos, meet lots of characters, and want everyone in the pictures—including the parent who always takes them—it can be a wonderful souvenir.

The question isn’t how many photos Disney might take. It’s how many of those photos you would actually want to download.

What is Disney Memory Maker?

Memory Maker is Disney’s digital download package for eligible photos and videos captured through Disney PhotoPass, including participating PhotoPass photographer locations and eligible attraction photos. It doesn’t mean Disney places a photographer next to you all day, and it doesn’t include a private photo session automatically. Coverage and experiences vary.

Current Memory Maker prices and timing

According to Disney’s official pricing page checked October 10, 2026:

OptionDisplayed priceImportant restriction
Memory Maker advance purchase$185Photos taken within three days of purchase or before purchase are excluded
Regular Memory Maker$210No advance-purchase three-day restriction
Memory Maker One Day$85Downloads from one selected day

The advance price currently saves $25, but do not wait until two days before your trip and assume it covers your first park day. The regular and advance multi-day versions cover eligible images within a 30-day activation window under Disney’s terms. Disney describes these purchases as nonrefundable. Confirm the terms at checkout because prices can change.

When Memory Maker is probably worth it

Families who love photos in front of park icons, want character-meet memories, plan several park days, enjoy attraction photos and don’t want one parent missing from all the family shots often get more meaningful use from the package.

It may be less worthwhile on a one-day trip, for someone who rarely stops for posed photos, or when a travel party already has another qualifying way to download its PhotoPass images.

Memory Maker vs. Capture Your Moment

These are different products.

Memory Maker is the digital download entitlement for eligible PhotoPass images.

Capture Your Moment is a separately booked, private 20-minute photo session, currently listed at $99 per session at participating theme park locations. Photos are not included in the session fee. Memory Maker or other qualifying PhotoPass download entitlement can cover eligible session downloads; otherwise photos can be purchased separately. Park admission is also required and not included in the session price.

That distinction matters for families celebrating a first trip, birthday, anniversary or engagement. A private shoot gives you dedicated photography time; Memory Maker gives you eligible downloads. Buying one does not automatically buy the other.

How I would make the decision

Think about how many parks you are visiting, whether you’ll stop at photographer locations, and if you’re planning a Capture Your Moment session. Compare the total package price with buying only the few photos you really want. And if you select the advance price, mark the waiting period clearly on your calendar.

What I tell clients

Memory Maker can be a great way to put your phone away and be in the pictures. But if your family’s priority is rides from open to close, your money might go farther elsewhere. See my Disney World First-Timer’s Guide.
