Yes—Walt Disney World’s four theme parks are normally open on Christmas Day. December 25 is a park day, not a resort-wide holiday closure. But “open” and “easy to visit” are two very different questions.
If your family is picturing Christmas morning in front of Cinderella Castle, here’s what I would think through before building the trip around that moment. Exact hours, entertainment and availability should always be checked for your travel year.
Are all four Disney World parks open on December 25?
Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom normally operate on Christmas Day. Each park has its own hours. A hotel reservation or dining booking is not park admission, and particular tickets may have blockout dates or reservation requirements.
Check Disney’s official calendar and your admission terms before making plans. Do not use a screenshot from a previous Christmas as your schedule.
Is Christmas Day a good day to visit Magic Kingdom?
It can be a meaningful choice if being at Magic Kingdom on Christmas is the priority. I would plan for substantial crowds and a slower pace, rather than promising a long checklist of attractions. The holiday atmosphere is part of what you are spending the day enjoying.
My approach: choose a short list of must-dos, build meals into the day, arrive with a transportation plan and leave room for crowded walkways. Consider optional Lightning Lane purchases against your actual ride list and budget; they do not remove crowds from the park.
Do you need Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tickets?
Christmas Day admission and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are different products. The party is a separately ticketed event on selected dates. Do not buy a party ticket assuming it covers December 25, or assume your regular admission covers a separately ticketed evening.

Is the televised Christmas parade filmed that morning?
Do not plan your trip around seeing the television broadcast filmed live on December 25. The holiday television special and the entertainment offered to park guests are separate schedules. Use the app’s current entertainment listings to decide which in-park performances to see.
How I would plan Christmas Day with little kids
Start with the version of Christmas your family actually wants. If your children need a slow morning opening presents, an early park start and a midnight finish are unlikely to fit. A later visit, a shorter park day or a resort day may make more sense.
I would protect one special meal or experience instead of booking several fixed commitments. Put gifts and anything needed for Christmas morning in luggage you can access. Check grocery delivery timing rather than relying on holiday delivery availability.
A resort day can still feel festive: breakfast together, decorations, a relaxed meal and time to enjoy the hotel. Check access and transportation rules before visiting other resorts; a dining reservation does not automatically grant unrestricted parking or pool access.
What should you book first?
Confirm your dates, lodging and suitable admission. Then prioritize the meals and experiences that matter most when their booking windows open. A sold-out restaurant is a reason to consider alternatives or availability alerts, not a reason to assume the whole holiday is ruined.
