You’ve paid for Lightning Lane, picked your return window, and then the attraction closes. Now what? First, don’t assume your day is ruined—or that you’ll automatically receive a refund.
Check your My Disney Experience plans
If an attraction is unavailable during your return window, Disney may adjust your reservation or provide an alternative experience entitlement depending on the circumstances. Check your app for an updated plan and carefully read any restrictions.
Can I use the replacement on any ride?
Not necessarily. Replacement entitlements can have attraction exclusions, timing limits or other rules. Don’t assume that a pass for one attraction can be used at every headliner in the park.
Should I stand around waiting?
With little kids, I’d normally move to something else and keep an eye on the app. A temporary closure may end quickly or last longer. It’s not worth losing an entire afternoon unless you have a very specific reason to stay nearby.
What if I purchased Single Pass or Premier Pass?
Policies and remedies may differ based on the pass and circumstances. Don’t assume any particular replacement or refund is guaranteed. Ask a Cast Member or Guest Relations what options apply to your actual purchase.
My quick action plan
- Check the attraction’s status in My Disney Experience.
- Review any changed reservations or entitlements.
- Read eligible attractions and expiration restrictions.
- Enjoy another experience while monitoring updates.
- Ask a Cast Member when you’re uncertain.
Disney expressly notes that Lightning Lane experiences can close without notice and are subject to availability. Read its official Lightning Lane details, explore my free guide vault, or get help planning a more flexible Disney vacation.
