I love getting my kids excited for Disney World, but I avoid promising that we’ll definitely ride a particular attraction. Even an excellent itinerary can’t guarantee every ride will be operating when you arrive.
1. TRON Lightcycle / Run — Magic Kingdom
This popular thrill ride has a height requirement and a ride experience that isn’t right for every child. Check current access options and your family’s comfort level before making it a must-do.
2. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — Magic Kingdom
This family coaster can have significant standby waits. I’d review the options for riding it, including whether its separate Lightning Lane purchase is worthwhile for your family.
3. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — EPCOT
It’s an intense indoor roller coaster, and your entire group may not want to ride. Check height requirements and any current access rules.
4. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance — Hollywood Studios
Because this attraction has several ride elements, I pay attention to its operating status and avoid building the whole day around one precise ride time.
5. Avatar Flight of Passage — Animal Kingdom
Height and ride-restraint fit are important here, in addition to comfort with the simulator experience. I’d check suitability before getting anyone’s hopes up.
What I’d do instead
Choose a few priority experiences for each park, check height requirements and refurbishment notices, and have alternatives ready. “We’ll try our best” is a lot safer than “I promise.”
